AMC PARK

Public BBQ

A recently rejuvenated playground with a genuinely unusual water play area — hand pumps feeding a small creek that runs down through the space — alongside a big flying fox and a second, harnessed one for less confident riders. Woodchip softfall replaces sand, which spares everyone the grit in the eyes. Big gums and shade sails keep most of it cool through the middle of the day, and there is a barbecue, picnic areas and a full basketball court that gives teenagers a reason to stay. The equipment is pitched mainly at primary to early high school ages. The real drawback is the toilets: the park signage points to the block at the community hall next door, but it has been out of order for a long stretch. Dogs are welcome on lead, though no bags are supplied.
